Life Science Academy was established in 2005 by a few enthusiastic scientists, led by Dr. Onkar Nath Tripathi, working on bioelectricity and ion channels and their role in cardiac physiology and pathology. The objective of this Academy was to promote research and education on different aspects of ion channels and receptors, dissemination of knowledge in this field by giving lectures, organizing workshops and conferences and publishing research papers and books. A group of leading academicians, physicians, scientists and environmentalists including wildlife conservation experts took the initiative to register the Life Science Academy with a new name, viz. The Academy of Life Sciences in 2024, to justify the inclusion of a wider area of interest and greater commitment to the role of life sciences in nation-building and in the attainment of India’s self-sufficiency in various aspects/ disciplines of life sciences.
